Quality Technician – 12 Hours Night Shift

 

M&M Industries, a manufacturer of injection molded rigid plastic packaging, currently has an open position for a Quality Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for performing product and material inspection and testing to ensure compliance with specifications. You will also use knowledge of quality control, production operations, and documentation to participate in process improvements and investigations, when required. As a member of the QA self-directed teams, you will be responsible for taking action to support the department and company goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Follows our safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
  • Responsible for your own Success; able to plan work, identify obstacles and training needs. Be a self-starter and able to work with limited direct supervision.
  • Conduct product or material inspection and testing using various types of measuring equipment including the co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM), calipers, scales and pi-tapes.
  • Perform data entry and reporting of test results including graphing and statistical analysis.
  • Locate production documents, inspection records and quality records for review.
  • Conducts in process visual inspections and retrieval of parts for lab testing
  • Ensuring daily housekeeping to keep a clean work area including but not limited to mopping, sweeping. Disposing of trash, sanitizing work surfaces, cleaning instruments and testing equipment, etc.
  • Using mechanical testing equipment, including but not limited to hydraulic capper, dart impact, drop tester, compression deflection device, and many other pieces of equipment. Training provided.
  • Physical destruction testing to include, but not limited to, water drops and hydrostatic testing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Job requires some lifting (maximum of 40 lbs), extended standing and walking will be required
  • Constantly and repetitively bending over, stooping, pouring, and picking up parts for various routine testing.
  • Able to read and understand customer drawings and specifications, including statistical analysis where appropriate.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of software programs in Microsoft Office such as Excel Word and PowerPoint
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Spanish communications an asset.
  • Working knowledge of quality control and production documentation
  • Off shift work maybe required
  • All work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and always requires the use of PPE (eyeglasses, etc. where required)
  • Minimum two years of quality control preferred. In depth training provided for all applicants including high school and community college graduates
