Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages all tooling activities, with the safety of associates and contractors being the highest priority.
- Leads preventive maintenance of molds and mold reliability.
- Manages improvement of key performance indicators for continuous improvement of mold functions, and for department budget cost effectiveness.
- Develops associates including coaching, mentoring and performance management.
- Participates in and/or leads initiatives for capital projects and problem-solving activities.
- Assures purchasing functions follow established policies and procedures.
- Supports, maintains, and improves processes associated with mold maintenance.
- Identifies safety, environmental, quality & production issues.
- Encourages innovation among associates within the department.
- Leads the team by proactively resolving employee issues, builds teamwork, and ensures adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
- Staffs, recruits, retains and develops talent.
- Determines root cause and implements preventative action in response to Non-Conformances.
- Partners with Engineering to develop and engage systems to qualify new mold designs before transitioning from mold maker to production facilities.
- Provides quotations for tooling improvements, maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
- Tracks vendor progress and performance. Review vendor status reports.
- Works with vendor and procurement team to develop alternate competitive supply of critical tooling components and molds.
- Investigates and performs corrective measures to repair hot runner systems.
- Prepares work order inspection reports, interpreting areas of concern while referring to the bill of materials, standards, and tolerances.
QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)
- Capable of reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and work-process documentation.
- Problem solving skills to identify root cause through use of 5 Why, Fishbone diagram, 8D, etc.
Education
- High School Diploma – Required
- College Degree - Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Mold Maker – Strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of RJG master molding – Preferred
Experience
- Five (5) years minimum in an injection molding tool room in a leadership capacity. – Required
- Environment, Health & Safety experience – Preferred
- ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System experience – Preferred

Manage People- Yes. Typically, less than 10 employees across multiple shifts.
