Key Responsibilities:
- Follows safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitors functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair, or replacement of components.
- Addresses and resolves equipment performance issues with other technical staff.
- Manages projects for implementing changes and improvements.
- Draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
- Uses understanding of PLC power management to add or remove I/O modules when needed to resolve any conflicts.
- Recommends changes in circuitry of installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Maintains backup programs of all electrical devices.
- Troubleshoots and programs VFD / Servo motor drives, and solid-state temperature controllers.
- Conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate the performance and reliability of prototype and production models.
- Analyzes and interprets data from VFD / Servo motor drives and controllers, scope meters and other troubleshooting equipment.
- Adjusts, calibrates, and aligns circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.
- Tests newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under operating conditions.
- Operates forklift and aerial lift for required job tasks.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment in accordance with the 5S principles.
- Establishes ethernet communication protocol with either EIP, Profinet, or Ethercat.
- Supports other maintenance and technical staff, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)
- Able to read, write, and understand the English language.
- Able to read and understand electronic and electrical schematics.
- Able to understand and interpret Ladder logic.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to utilize Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, controls, protocols, and platforms.
- Able to perform Vision system programming and debugging (not limited to Keyence and/or Cognex)
- Able to set up and modify Laser sensors and understand internal working of sensor.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Able to use common hand tools.
- Able to use lathes, end mills, surface grinders.
- Able to read mechanical prints.
- Able to work independently with little supervision.
Education
- High school diploma or G.E.D. (required)
- Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology, completion of an accredited apprenticeship, or equivalent certification (preferred)
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in PLC, HMI, or Robotic programming (required)
- Prior experience managing projects and compiling reports (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Forklift certification (preferred)
- Aerial lift certification (preferred)
OTHER
Physical Job Requirements
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds independently.
- Able to lift weight exceeding 75 pounds with assistance.
- All work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and requires the use of PPE at all times (safety glasses, hearing protection where necessary, etc.)
- Able to work on aerial platforms up to 80 feet in the air occasionally (30 feet on average)
